Our Firm's History
Sayle Sandifer & Associates, LLP is the successor to the firm, Sayle and Macione which was founded June 1, 1969 at 110 Fourth Street, Leland, Mississippi, with two partners - Joe Macione, Jr. and Ben Sayle & - one secretary, and a small office. This was the official beginning; however, the tradition goes back even further.
In late 1969, Sayle and Macione acquired the practice of Thomas E. Walsh, CPA, of Greenville, Mississippi. The firm then operated from both Leland and Greenville locations until moving into the offices we now occupy located at 2037 Highway 82 East, Greenville, in January, 1974.
On January 1, 1984 Joe Macione, Jr. withdrew as a partner in the firm and Virgil L. "Brother" Sandifer, Jr. was admitted as a partner. On January 1, 1984 the firm name was changed to Sayle Sandifer & Associates.
In September 1985 Sayle Sandifer & Associates and Charles R. Marchbanks, PA, merged firms and Charles R. Marchbanks became a principal. Charles has been in public practice since 1952 and was self-employed from 1956 to 1985. Charles withdrew as a principal in the firm in December 1989.
Lisa Sandifer was admitted as a partner in 2003.
Ben Sayle holds a CPA certificate in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. He was in private accounting in the farming and dairy industries prior to entering public accounting in 1961. He has studied through LaSalle Extension University, Delta State University, and the University of Mississippi. He is active in professional associations and has served as president of the Delta Chapter of MSCPA and on the board of governors of MSCPA. He served one term on the Mississippi State Board of Public Accountancy, 1991-1995.
V.L. "Brother" Sandifer, Jr. holds a CPA certificate in both Mississippi and Texas. Brother graduated from the University of Mississippi with both a BBA and a MBA. Brother attended the AICPA National Tax Course at the University of Illinois for five consecutive summers.
Lisa B. Sandifer holds a CPA certificate in both Arkansas and Mississippi. She received her BBA from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, MBA from the University of Mississippi, and PH.D from the University of Southern Mississippi. Lisa has also served as the president of the Delta Chapter of MSCPA and served on the board of governors of the MSCPA. She currently serves as the treasurer for the Delta Chapter of MSCPA. She is a full time instructor in Accounting at Delta State University and serves as the audit partner in the firm.
